My Obstetrician- Gynecologist

I decided that today I will pay tribute to my OB-Gynecologist as so far He is great in His taking care of my pre-natal periods.

I admit that even I have delivered 3 children already (one via C- section and two through normal deliveries), I am still a big coward when it comes to birthing. This is the reason that during my three past pregnancies I only have one same OB-Gynecologist. I maintained my doctor as I find her great when it comes to aiding you through your terms up to your birthing day. She was from my home city, Oroquieta City Misamis Occidental- Dra. Lorna Yap.

However, on my case now I cannot have Doctor Yap to see me through my pregnancy as I am staying here in Manila. I have managed to go home to the province before on my third child timely for birthing there, but the case now is impossible. I am working in a very strict American and Worldwide Group that do not allow extensive leave of absence. When the time comes that I will be eligible for my maternity leave, I won't be allowed to travel via air nor sea. I am not even allowed at this time of my term. I was compelled to find a doctor who would take care of me. I have no personal choice here as I have no one whom I am at ease with. I have seen couple of OB-Gyne before for minor cases and not due to pregnancy but I cannot find someone that I have my full trust on. Then I decided to see the Obstetrician-Oncologists( a doctor who specializes cancer/ tumors of the reproductive organs) who had remove the cyst of my mother. She is very good of course. I went to her on my first trimester. I find her okay and in my thoughts I know I could trust her. But the feeling of being at ease with the doctor is still wavering. Moreover, during my monthly visits to her, I have never seen a pregnant patient once. All of those who were at the clinic have varying cancer/ cysts problems. Imagine that, I was the only one with bulging stomach. The scene is distressing.

Until I met KC-my new neighbor in our new place. She many times urged me to see her OB, the one who had seen her when she was pregnant with her son Yukie. At first, I was reluctant knowing from her that the Obstetrician is a male. But she was persistent on her suggestions and invitations to come with her even for once and from that will have my personal judgment and weighing if who will be my choice. According to her, 100% she can guarantee that the doctor is good and I won't have any problem at all. So, I decided to check on her doctor and went with her one day. Actually it was already on the middle of my second trimester. But of course I still have not scratch the OB that I have been seing from the first term. True to KC's words. I find the doctor amazing. All my mind visualization before seeing him were the exact opposite. Dr. Francis Arnold Cañaveral is a very commendable man. Soft-spoken and very accommodating and helpful to the patient is what he is. He divulge longer time in seeing patient by patient. He explains well and during the check-up I assure you that you would feel very comfortable and at ease with your doctor and your pregnancy. I have learned a lot from him. The reasonable Php 300 professional fee every check-up is a lot worth it compared to the Php 500 PF of my previous OB-Oncologist. Well from the fee alone, there's a big variance already. When are you feeling uncertain Dr. Cañaveral will calm you down that all your fears and uncertainties will disappear.

I have mentioned to you that I had pre-mature labor during my birthday so I rushed to his clinic at Pembo Doctor's Clinic in Makati, he checked and did some medical procedure on me and gave me the right medication and advised me to rest. When we are about to go home, he patted my shoulder and said, "Shelo you don't have to pay anything". I will tell the cashier downstairs that no fee should be collected. I was surprised. He did a lot of things to me that time and yet he won't let me pay. There and then I know that his care and profession is by heart and not after for what he could get from patients . There's only a few like him. In fact, he is the first one I know. I am so thankful that the Lord has given me the right OB-Gynecologist. I am placed in safe hands. I thank that I have listened to KC for her suggestions to see him. I am scheduled to see him again next Saturday for check-up. I am just excited to know some developments in my nearing to full term pregnancy.

Thanks God , You are still my real OB-Gyne.

In case you might want to see Dr. Francis Arnold Cañaveral, you can see him in the following clinics:

Tuesday eManna

I have random posts every Tuesday, posting only what comes into mind. However, after the reflections on the happenings of our today's environment, I decided that I would post my reflections on the word of the Lord every Tuesday of the Week. To make this a double digest, I decided to make this a meme and would call it , "Tuesday eManna".

eManna, what is it? Manna actually means “what is it?” in Hebrew. It was bread from heaven that sustained and transformed the Israelite while they journeyed through the wilderness more than 3000 years ago. Manna was small, round, and pearly white in appearance coming every day as fresh as the morning dew. The taste was that of a wafer with honey and fresh oil. It was eaten and enjoyed every day for 40 years until the children of Israel entered to possess the “good land.”

Today, the living Word of God is our manna. The Bible reveals God, Christ, man, the past and the future, but above all the Bible conveys the very life and Spirit of God. When we open ourselves to its speaking and revelation, it is the seed of life that enlivens, refreshes, strengthens and transforms our inward being.
If you want to play along and share your thoughts and reflections on the words of the Lord. Just post the banner above and copy the code on my sidebar, select a verse which you have enjoyed and share your reflections on it. Sign on in the Tuesday eManna Mcklinky for us to be able to hop around and enjoy your reflections too. Feed on and Grow in the rich supply of His word.

Here is my First Entry:

Not Being Crushed by Anxieties
Phil 4:6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
When I remember the Lord's faitfulness and that His grace is sufficient, at moments like these, I always turn to Him and say, " Lord, I know you will never fail". Yes that is true , He would never fail. He is a God who's faithfulness is beyond words. Knowing Him like that would ease my anxiousness. I know He will meet our timely needs.

It would be wonderful if we would commit the things we encounter into God's hand item by item. Otherwise, when the first thing comes up, we lay it upon ourselves. Then when the second and third things come up, we also lay them upon ourselves. In this way, we are pressed and lose our joy.

Once I saw builders moving tiles to the roof of a house. Three men stood on a ladder, one at the top, the second in the middle, and the third at the bottom. The one at the bottom would hand the tiles over to the one in the middle. After the one in the middle received the tiles, he would hand them to the one at the top. They continued this way unceasingly. When I saw this I thought, “What if the man in the middle did not pass on the tiles he received, or what if the man on the top refused to take the tiles passed to him?” If that happened, the one in the middle would eventually be crushed to death by the tiles that were continuously coming to him. We deal with anxiety in this manner. If we do not send all the anxieties to God to let Him bear them, all the anxieties of this world will crush us to death.

The moment we have anxiety, we must immediately entrust it to the Lord. We do not have to tolerantly accumulate anxieties upon ourselves item by item. There is a way out. We can rejoice and be free from anxiety because we have God and because we can entrust all things to God through prayers.

How wonderful it is to have such a God who could carry us on His shoulders and bear our anxieties in times of troubles. Amen.

If you are joining don't forget to sign on the Mr. Mcklinky below with the link of your own post so I would be able to visit your posts and enjoy the Lord's words. You can also put the Mcklinky in your own post, just follow the instructions so you can get the code. Thanks for sharing along.

More on Typhoon Ondoy

Let us pray for the distress victims who lost their homes and their living due to the Typhoon Ondoy.

The street that becomes a river..

Rescuing them from the Rooftop..
Wading it's way into the strong current of the gushing waters..
Save them from the top..

Thanks to those who volunteered for the rescue operation..

NCR turns into a great muddy river..

The worst traffic...
Making it's way through the electric wires..
Letting them in into the rubber boats..

The Lashing of Tropical Storm Ondoy

Thanks God we are safe. I have mentioned that Metro Manila is one of the place which was declared as state of calamity due to the lashing of the Tropical Storm "Ondoy" yesterday. I praise the Lord for His wonderful arrangements to those who trust in Him as their refuge and fortress during winds and stormy days.

We have just transferred to this new place of ours not so many months ago. At the advent of the rainy season, I was kind of concern at our old place as it was many times flooded. There were times when only our yaya and my baby were left in the house when flood came and they didn't know what to do. Those little flooding made me decide to look for a new place and would search in elevated areas so we wont have any problem of flood when it rains. True to my worries , the old place we had occupied was flooded yesterday due to Ondoy and the water was up to neck level. Imagine how scary it could be if we are still there. I thank the Lord for working ways on us as always.

Ondoy (International storm code name Ketsana) has really done a lot of damages around NCR. According to the news the death toll already rises to 52 till this Sunday, September 27 noon as reported from NDCC (National Disaster Coordinating Council) and the number of the affected people rise to 300,000 as of the moment.

In the 12 noon report on the effects of Ondoy, the NDCC said the number of people dead rose to 52, with the addition of one fatality from Barangay Bato in San Juan City.

Seven people died in the NCR, one from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and 44 from Region IV-A, the NDCC report stated.

Rizal province reported the most number of casualties, with 23 dead reported in Tanay, 10 in Angono, 5 in Baras, 3 in Montalban, and one in Teresa.

In Metro Manila, the 7 dead were from Muntinlupa (3), Quezon City (2), and Marikina City and San Juan (1 each).

Calaca town in Batangas, Calauag town in Quezon, and Kabugao town in Apayao, meanwhile, reported one dead each.

Meanwhile, 23 people are reported missing, and 4 have been reported injured.

The NDCC said 294,555 people are affected by the storm in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, batangas, Laguna, Rizal, and Camarines Sur, or a total of 59,241 families. The partial total of evacuees has reached 9,601 families, or 47,261 people, located in 101 evacuation centers.

A very Bad Weather Day

The sun is not shining again in Metro Manila and maybe in almost all parts of Luzon. The rain continuously downpours coupled with very strong winds. Metro Manila is flooded already and traffic is worst ever. Vehicles are trapped and cannot move due to the high waters. My husband is one of those who are stranded in the middle of the street. They cannot get through because one of the creeks in Quezon City has already overflowed, causing high level of flood which makes the vehicles being stuck in the streets. Worst scene is most of the department stores and other commercial facilities which are open are already flooded inside their vicinity.

The calamity is due to the Tropical Cyclone that hits Luzon.

MANILA - More than 30 areas in Luzon, including Metro Manila, were placed under storm alerts as tropical storm "Ondoy" accelerated further and moved closer to Central Luzon on Saturday morning.

Weather bureau PAGASA said Ondoy was traveling west northwest at 19 kilometers per hour, packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kph and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

Public storm warning signal No. 2 was hoisted over La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Bulacan, northern part of Quezon, Polillo Island, Camarines Norte and Rizal.

Signal No. 1 was raised over Isabela, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Sur, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Marinduque, Mindoro provinces, Lubang Island, southern part of Quezon, Camarines Sur, Albay, Burias Island, and Metro Manila.

PAGASA said the storm is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains over the central and southern parts of Luzon, as well as the Visayas regions.

This is only signal number 1? My God , what will happen it this will accelerate to Signal no. 2. I just pray this storm will subside soon. I hate this kind of weather, everything gets gloomy.

Mommy Moments: Her Favorite Bunny!

mommy moments

I was not able to play along last week due to some medical emergency regarding my pregnancy. However, I'm here again, playing along... This week's theme is "It's My Favorite", showing any photo of our children with any of their favorite.

What I will share you this week is my daughter's favorite plush bunny which she calls " Bunbun"

Bebay's Bestfriend- Her favorite Bunny

Meet Bunbun, a soft plush bunny toy which arrived together with the box from Australia sent to us about 4 years ago.

This is how Bunbun looked like when it arrived to us years before. Soft, cuddly and cute bunny. It actually arrived together with a lot of soft toys for my daughter. I never thought that this little plushy toy would become my daughter's favorite, actually her best friend. I have blogged about this before titled "My Daughter's bestfriend" .

How they became best friends? Let me start it this way, Bebay was only two months old or three when Bunbun became her favorite. Ludy , her nanny or yaya just decided to place the toy at her arms for her cuddle one day. From then on, she noticed that Bebay slept well when bunbun was near her or at her reach. Until the day came that she could not sleep without it that she would cry and fuzz if bunbun was not at her side. Bun-bun is everywhere where she is, except for short mall trip and get-aways around the city. Bunbun has been with us when we took vacations at the province, during confinement at the hospital that a lot of people knew the little toy rabbit to be her favorite. She cannot take her milk without cuddling bunbun and moreover cannot take afternoon nap without it beside her. Bun-bun smells like bebay , i think so too. he he. I even saw her putting Bunbun at her school bag at her first day of school as she said, she would bring it along with her in school. Of course I did not allow her. Bunbun have been to many places as where my daughter is , there is also Bunbun.

If my daughter is growing older each year, bunbun is also getting old and worn out and literally not so cute anymore.. LOL. Look at some photos of bunbun 2 years ago. This plushy still survive up to the present, but just imagine how thin, worn and how raggy it could be with eyes off and little of the nose left..and the round face becomes oblongated.. LOL. I even joked that we should throw bunbun already as it's not good anymore, but she'll just cry out loud and won't let us do anything about it.
A lot of toys and soft cuddly bunnies were sent year by year and even bought by me BUT NOTHING BEATS HER FAVORITE BUNNY.

Now, it's time for you to tell your story. Join us at Mommy Moments here and tell us your kid's favorite.
