Words of Ministry

After we are saved, we should sin no more. John 8 speaks of the Lord Jesus forgiving a woman who had committed adultery. He said to her then and there, "From now on sin no more" (v. 11). Once we are saved, we are charged by the Lord to sin no more! As saved ones, we surely should not continue in sin.

Since a Christian should not sin and should not continue in sins, is it then possible for a Christian not to sin? The answer is yes! It is possible for Christians not to sin because we have God's life within us. This life does not sin. It cannot tolerate any trace of sin. This life is as holy as God is holy. The life within us makes us very sensitive to sin. If we walk according to the sense of this life and if we live by this life, we will not sin.

However, it is possible for Christians to sin. We are still in the flesh. If we do not walk according to the Spirit and live in life, we can sin at any time. Galatians 6:1 says, "Brothers, even if a man is overtaken in some offense..." First John 2:1 says, "My little children...if anyone sins..." It is possible for Christians to be overtaken by sins. There is still the possibility of sinning. First John 1:8 says, "If we say that we do not have sin, we are deceiving ourselves." Verse 10 says, "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar." Hence, our experience shows us that it is possible for Christians to fall accidentally into sin.

Tuesday eManna: The Present God in Our Prayers

eManna for Today:

Mark 11:24 For this reason I say to you, All things that you pray and ask,
believe that you have received them, and you will have them.

Words of Ministry

From man's point of view, prayer and petition are things of the present, and "you will have them" is a thing of the future. There is a gap of time between "pray and ask" and "you will have them." When I pray to God for the healing of a disease, for the salvation of a sinner, or for the accomplishment of a work, I do not know when the disease will be healed, when the person will be saved, or when the work will be accomplished. In man's eyes, answers to prayer belong to the future. But the Lord Jesus' word here is very unusual. He is speaking of genuine faith. "All things that you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and you will have them."

In our mind, we often misread the word "have" in the phrase "believe that you have received them." We often change it to "believe that you will receive them, and you will have them," or we change it to "believe that you can receive them..." or "believe that you are going to receive them..." But once you change it, that is no longer faith. Only one faith is genuine faith -- the faith that believes that "God is." The Lord's Word does not say "going to receive" but "have received them." I believe that I have received them now. I am not waiting for the future. Do we see this?

Tuesday eManna: Eating Our Difficulties as Food

Num. 14:7 And they spoke to the whole assembly of the children of Israel, saying, The land through which we passed to spy out is an exceedingly good land.
(8) If Jehovah is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us; a land which flows with milk and honey.
(9) Only do not rebel against Jehovah, nor should you fear the people of the land, for they are our bread. Their protection has been removed from them, and Jehovah is with us; do not fear them.

There is another noteworthy matter in connection with Caleb. He told the Israelites that they could go up immediately, they could overcome, and they did not have to be afraid of them
[their enemies]
, because “they will be our bread.” Bread is something to eat. Bread is something that brings increased strength, that makes one stronger after he eats it. The inhabitants of the land were admittedly “men of great size,” but in Caleb's eyes, they were food for God's people. He not only honored God's promises; he despised all the difficulties. Everyone who has genuine faith honors God and lightly esteems all difficulties. But this leaves no room for pride, for only those who humble themselves before God will be able to stand upon His victory.

Every time you meet a difficulty, every time you find yourself in an impossible situation, ask yourself this question: Am I going to starve here, or am I going to eat? If you are relying on the Lord for victory and allow His overcoming life to be manifested in you, you will find fresh nourishment and increased vitality, and you will be fed once again. Bear in mind that people who do not eat well cannot grow into maturity. Our bread is not only the word of God, our meat is not only to do His will, our bread is also the Anakim--the difficulties that are in our way. Many eat too little of the Anakim. The more we eat the Anakim, the stronger we will become. Caleb is a grand illustration of this. Because he accepted the Anakim as “bread,” he was still full of vitality at the age of eighty-five. His strength was the same at eighty-five as it was at forty. So many Anakim had been assimilated by him over the years that he had developed a constitution which showed no trace of age.

This is also true in the spiritual realm. ...there are those who have met and overcome difficulty after difficulty, temptation after temptation; they are full of vigor because they have fed well on Anakim. We have to eat our difficulties and our temptation. Every difficulty and every temptation Satan puts in our way is food for us. This is a God-appointed means of spiritual progress. The sight of any trouble strikes terror into the heart of those who do not have faith, but those who trust Him say, “Here comes my food!” Praise and thank the Lord, all our trials, without exception, are bread for us. Every trial brings in growth after we have eaten of it. As we accept one trial after another, we are more and more richly nourished.

eManna for Today:

Acts 22:15 For you will be a witness to Him unto all men of the things which you have seen and heard.
1 John 4:14 And we have beheld and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world.

What is witnessing?

From [the above verses] we see that the basis of witnessing is what we have seen and heard. You cannot be a witness to what you have not seen with your own eyes or heard with your own ears. Paul saw something with his own eyes and heard something with his own ears. God charged him to be a witness of what he had seen with his own eyes and heard with his own ears. A person is a witness to what he has seen.

Thank God, you have believed in the Lord. You have met Him, believed in Him, received Him, and gained Him. You are saved. You have been delivered from sins, received forgiveness, and obtained peace. Now that you have believed in the Lord, what joy you possess. This joy is something which you did not have before. Formerly, how heavy was the load of sin upon you! But now, thank God, this load of sin is gone. You have seen and heard something. What should you do today? You should testify of your experience. This does not mean that you have to leave your job to be a preacher. It means that you should witness to your friends, relatives, and acquaintances of what you have seen and heard, and bring them to the Lord.

Tuesday eManna: The Food that We Eat Becomes Us

eManna for today:

Matt 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it, and He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said, Take , eat; this is My body.

John 6: 51 I am the living bread which came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever; And the bread which I will give is My flesh, given for the life of the world.

Eating the bread of the Lord's table indicates that the Lord comes into us as our life supply and then actually becomes us. If we consider the matter of eating, we shall realize that the food we eat eventually becomes us. We may say not only that the food becomes us, but even that we become the food. Not only is there an organic union between us and the food we eat, digest, and assimilate; we are mingled with the food we assimilate into us.

How could anyone reasonably deny the fact that we are mingled with the food we eat, digest, and assimilate? In fact, assimilating food into our being goes beyond mingling. We do not have the words to describe this. However, we do know that we are mingled in a deep way with the food we eat. In a similar way, when we take in the Triune God as our food, we are truly mingled with Him. In order for the food we eat to become our life, it must be mingled with us. The principle is the same with taking in the Triune God as our food.

What we eat actually becomes part of us. Hence, this is not only a mingling; it is also a becoming. The food we digest and assimilate becomes part of our very being. For this reason, after we have thoroughly digested and assimilated our food, it is impossible for it to be located within us, because it has become a part of us. We use this matter of assimilating food to illustrate the deep significance of eating the bread of the Lord's table.

Tuesday eManna: Being Crucified with Christ

I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Gal. 2:20

Our inner eyes have to be opened. When Christ was crucified on the cross, God put our sins on Christ and crucified them on the cross. This is God's side of the work. Christ died for us and took our sins away. This occurred more than nineteen hundred years ago, and we believe it. Similarly, when Christ was crucified, God put us into Christ. Just as our sins were settled more than nineteen hundred years ago, our person was also dealt with at the same time. On the cross our sins were removed. On the cross our person was also dealt with. We must remember Romans 6:6: “Knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with Him.” We do not have to hope to be crucified with Christ. We have been crucified with Him, forever and unchangeably crucified with Him. God has put us into Christ. When Christ died on the cross, we died on the cross as well.

If you take a piece of paper, write a few letters on it, and then tear the paper apart, you tear the letters apart as well. You are tearing the paper, but as the paper is torn, the letters are torn. He died that He might “taste death on behalf of everything“ (Heb. 2:9). The whole old creation passed away with Him. You have been trying in vain to do good and to be a successful Christian for years. Now God has crucified you with Christ.

You have to believe in this truth. Your eyes need to be open to see that your sins were upon Christ and your person was also upon Christ. Your sins were on the cross, and your person was also on the cross. Your sins were taken away, and your person was also crucified. All this has been accomplished by Christ. Many people fail because they keep looking at themselves. Those who have faith should look at the cross and see what Christ has accomplished. God placed me in Christ. When Christ died, I also died!

Tuesday eManna: A Contrast between Vanity and Reality

(41) And He sat down opposite the treasury and watched how the crowd cast money into the treasury. And many rich people cast in much.
(42) And one poor widow came and cast in two lepta, which is a quadrans.
(43) And He called His disciples to Him and said to them, Truly I say to you that this poor widow has cast in more than all those who were casting into the treasury,
(44) For they all cast in out of their surplus, but she, out of her lack, has cast in all that she had, her whole living.
Matt 12:41-44

Those who gave out of their abundance did not touch the Lord's heart. However, the Lord was touched by the poor widow who cast in two small copper coins. He admired her for giving in such a way. It is very significant that after the Lord subdued all the opposers, He gave a warning concerning the scribes and appraised a poor widow in her loyalty. First, He warned His disciples to beware of the vain empty teachings of the scribes. Then He encouraged them to appreciate a widow's inward reality. He wanted them to look into the situation among God's people, not outwardly according to man's way, but inwardly according to a person's inward reality. Because He had such a view. He could appreciate the poor widow.

The Lord had a little meeting with His disciples, a meeting in which He spoke to them concerning the scribes and a widow. With the scribes there is emptiness, vanity; with the widow there is inward reality. We need to learn to appreciate reality and to beware of vanity. Someone may be an excellent speaker, eloquent and knowledgeable. However, his speaking may be empty. By contrast, someone else may be poor in his speaking, without eloquence or knowledge. Nevertheless, with this one there is inward reality toward God. This is the significance of the two incidents--the warning concerning the scribes and the appraising of the poor widow--being placed together at the end of chapter twelve.

Nothing proves a believer's inward reality more than the matter of money. The reason money proves a believer's inward reality is that in human life nothing is more tangible than money or material possessions. Your money and possessions test whether or not you have reality toward God.

Today's eManna:

(1)And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb in the middle of its street. (2) And on this side and on that side of the river was the tree of life...
Rev 22:1-2

Every day we must eat and drink. The same is true with our spiritual life. In the Bible there are the river of life and the tree of life. The river of life is for our drinking, and the tree of life is for our eating. The river of life is a picture of Christ as the Spirit of life, and the tree of life is a picture of Christ as the supply of life to man in the form of food. God has no intention for us to worship Him in a religious way [like prostrating ourselves, or performing some rituals] . His intention is that we would take in Christ as food and drink. By enjoying our God as food and drink, Christ as the Spirit and life comes into us.

When the divine life comes into us, we are regenerated; we have God's life, and we become God's sons. To be a Christian is not a matter of fulfilling certain religious obligations or reforming our behavior.
[If you are a monkey, you cannot become human by reforming yourself. The only way to be human is to be born with a life from human parents] . In the same way, we do not become sons of God by doing anything, but by receiving God's life into us.

Day by day as we eat and drink of Christ, we will grow in the divine life. In this way we will be a people who are filled with God and will eventually express God in our living. This is the meaning of the Christian life.

Tuesday eManna: The Grace of the Lord

The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:6

When Paul says, "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit," he means that the supply and enjoyment of the Triune God by and through the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ should be with us. When we have such a supply, we enjoy and experience the Triune God all day long. The spirit here is our regenerated spirit indwelt by the Spirit of Christ. It is in this spirit of ours that we enjoy Christ and experience Him as Paul did. Many Christians today have missed the mark of the regenerated spirit. They speak much about the Holy Spirit, but not of the human spirit. Because of this neglect of the regenerated human spirit, there is very little experience of Christ or enjoyment of the all-inclusive grace.

If we would enjoy the grace which is with our spirit, we need to exercise our spirit. The way to exercise the spirit is to pray, pray-read the Word, and call on the name of the Lord Jesus. Whenever we call on the Lord Jesus or pray to God the Father, we automatically exercise our spirit. ...when we call on the Lord, pray in a proper way, and pray-read the Word, we truly exercise our spirit. Exercising our spirit in this way is the secret to enjoying the grace which is with our spirit. Oh, we all need more exercise of the spirit to enjoy the Lord!

We know that man has three parts: the spirit, the soul, and the body. Bodily exercise is necessary and profitable. When I exercise physically, I sleep better at night. It is hardly necessary to speak of the exercise of the soul, especially of the mind, since this is emphasized so much in the schools. But there is a great need to emphasize the need to exercise the spirit. The church is a spiritual gymnasium where we can exercise our spirit. The more we exercise the spirit, the more we shall be healthy and strong in our entire being. Our physical body will be healthy, our mind will be sober and keen, and our spirit will be energized. Again I say, the exercise of the spirit is the secret, the unique way, to participate in the very grace which is the Triune God as the all-inclusive Spirit. As we enjoy Him, we become healthy and strong in our spirit and in our whole being.

Tuesday eManna: 1 Timothy 6:10

Word for Today:

For the love of money is a root of all evils, because of which some, aspiring after money , have been led away from the faith and pierced themselves through with many pains.
1Tim 6:10

Paul does emphasize the fact that none of the believers should be under the bondage of wealth. We should not be bound by riches in any way. Rather, the slavery of riches must be nullified. We are not for riches; riches are for us. We must be free from our material possessions and use our riches for the fulfillment of God's purpose.

Of course, as human beings, we need money in order to live. But we never should be enslaved to money. Money should not be our master. Rather, money should be under our management and should be used for God's purpose. If money is not under our control and if it is not used for God's purpose, then we shall be enslaved to it. As a result, we shall not be able to enter into the kingdom of God.

May we be impressed with the truth that the best way to handle our married life is to take Christ as our replacement and to experience His death and resurrection. Likewise, the best way to keep ourselves new, fresh, and young is to take Christ through His death and resurrection. Furthermore, the best way to handle our money is Christ with His death and resurrection. The only way to handle these things properly is to be replaced by Christ through His all-inclusive death and His wonderful resurrection.

Tuesday eManna: Revelation 21:4

Word for Today:

And He will wipe away every tears from their eyes and death will be no more nor there will be no sorrow or crying or pain anymore ; for the former things have passed away...(Rev.21:4)

Praise the Lord for the word of the Lord. Truly in the new heaven and new earth there will be full satisfaction and rest; there will be no more cause for tears. Death which is an element of the enemy will be wholly swallowed up by life and will be cast into the lake of fire, in the new heaven and new earth there will be no more death. How we need to be today's overcomers, overcoming the degradation of earth today and living for the eternal goal which is the new heaven and new earth- the NEW JERUSALEM.. Amen

Tuesday eManna

I have random posts every Tuesday, posting only what comes into mind. However, after the reflections on the happenings of our today's environment, I decided that I would post my reflections on the word of the Lord every Tuesday of the Week. To make this a double digest, I decided to make this a meme and would call it , "Tuesday eManna".

eManna, what is it? Manna actually means “what is it?” in Hebrew. It was bread from heaven that sustained and transformed the Israelite while they journeyed through the wilderness more than 3000 years ago. Manna was small, round, and pearly white in appearance coming every day as fresh as the morning dew. The taste was that of a wafer with honey and fresh oil. It was eaten and enjoyed every day for 40 years until the children of Israel entered to possess the “good land.”

Today, the living Word of God is our manna. The Bible reveals God, Christ, man, the past and the future, but above all the Bible conveys the very life and Spirit of God. When we open ourselves to its speaking and revelation, it is the seed of life that enlivens, refreshes, strengthens and transforms our inward being.

Not Being Crushed by Anxieties

Phil 4:6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

When I remember the Lord's faitfulness and that His grace is sufficient, at moments like these, I always turn to Him and say, " Lord, I know you will never fail". Yes that is true , He would never fail. He is a God who's faithfulness is beyond words. Knowing Him like that would ease my anxiousness. I know He will meet our timely needs.

It would be wonderful if we would commit the things we encounter into God's hand item by item. Otherwise, when the first thing comes up, we lay it upon ourselves. Then when the second and third things come up, we also lay them upon ourselves. In this way, we are pressed and lose our joy.

Once I saw builders moving tiles to the roof of a house. Three men stood on a ladder, one at the top, the second in the middle, and the third at the bottom. The one at the bottom would hand the tiles over to the one in the middle. After the one in the middle received the tiles, he would hand them to the one at the top. They continued this way unceasingly. When I saw this I thought, “What if the man in the middle did not pass on the tiles he received, or what if the man on the top refused to take the tiles passed to him?” If that happened, the one in the middle would eventually be crushed to death by the tiles that were continuously coming to him. We deal with anxiety in this manner. If we do not send all the anxieties to God to let Him bear them, all the anxieties of this world will crush us to death.

The moment we have anxiety, we must immediately entrust it to the Lord. We do not have to tolerantly accumulate anxieties upon ourselves item by item. There is a way out. We can rejoice and be free from anxiety because we have God and because we can entrust all things to God through prayers.

How wonderful it is to have such a God who could carry us on His shoulders and bear our anxieties in times of troubles. Amen.
