While we were in Tam-awan village a web-like handmade object caught my attention as we were threading our way to the hilly part of the Ifugao community. We stopped and ask the guide to know what it was. He introduced it to us and told us about amazing stories how the olden society used that nature woven spidey-webby like hoop, the
dream catcher.
According to legends and myths, through the dream catcher the good in their dreams are captured in the web of life and carried with them...but the evil in their dreams escapes through the hole in the center of the web and are no longer a part of them. They hold on to their belief that the dream catcher holds the destiny of their future.
This was an old belief that originated too from the old Indian community. Wherein, they believe that a dream catcher may guide them in having a prosperous life. The web is a perfect circle, but there is a hole in the middle of the circle. The made us of the web to help the community reach its goals, dreams and visions. According to them, if you believe in the Spirit, the web will catch your good ideas and the bad will slip through the hole.
Another legend believed that, "Good dreams pass through the center hole to the sleeping person. The bad dreams are trapped in the web, where they perish in the light of dawn."
