Again, a Venezuelan danced in victory when announced as the most beautiful woman in the Universe, the Ms. Universe 2009.
The other top-five finalists were runner-up Ada Aimee de la Cruz, followed by Miss Kosovo, Droga Ganusha; Miss Australia, Rachael Finch; and Miss Puerto Rico, Mayra Matos Perez.
On the question-and-answer portion with the five top finalists, Fernandez very well-said she believed women have overcome obstacles such as hitting the proverbial glass ceiling.
"I feel we have reached the level that men are at," she said.
She was asked on her thoughts about how beauty contests promoted equality between men and women, Fernandez answered they provided exposure.
"We have quite a following worldwide," she said. "We are models to follow."Miss China, Wang Jingyao, won Miss Congeniality and Miss Thailand, Chutima Durongdej, won Miss Photogenic.
Cheers and congratulations to the new Miss Universe. Cheers also to Venezuela for making a history of winning twice in a row in such a prestigious beauty contest.
