Couple's Corner: A seal in Thy Heart

Rodliz’s Nest

This is finally the day we have to tell about the day "We say I do" in Couple's Corner.

You can play the video at the bottom of the post ( It's actually a melody of the Song of Solomon) while reading my story.

Song of Solomon 8:6-7
Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame.

Many waters cannot quench love;
rivers cannot wash it away.
If one were to give
all the wealth of his house for love,
it would be utterly scorned.

Marriage for me is setting a seal in each other's heart that both of you belong to each other. It is the utmost declaration of love before the Lord and before men. Though two hearts may have gone rough roads and highways, still they would be home in each other's arm for Love never falls away.

That day when he spoke of His ultimate love proposal for me, I realized that God has answered my earnest prayer. My happiness could not be contend that time already. However, as His family was against the tides, they dejected the idea of their son getting married to me.

But still the Lord has a way of arranging our lives together. I have the blessing from my own family and that was more important for me. My official marriage was never a fancy one. I have always dreamed of marching down the aisle with my white wedding dress and flowers all around. But in my real marriage day, I was the simplest bride wearing my simple Sunday dress, no marching down an aisle with beautiful blue flowers and no fancy ladies and children showering petals on the pathways. All was a mere simplicity. Nevertheless, the happiness was more than that of the ones who has been married in grandeur. I have been finally home and be at rest in my man's heart. He is the one who made my life complete and I am the satisfaction of his heart. Although the setting was so simple with only a few of my family and friends and his family never there , it was a bliss occasion for us.

My cousins and my best friend signed as witnesses on the contract. We thought it was not necessary to have so many as long as we have real and supportive ones. The officiating official was a lady Judge. There were no singing like in your marriage maybe , but I know the angels sang for us. I believe that our marriage was carefully and beautifully arranged by the Lord even before the foundation of the world. He led me to a dark situation to be ushered to the presence of my husband. I could have not met Zel if I was not placed into a downfall condition on the past. The Lord is really sovereign enough. It's always right to believe that behind the storms in our lives, the sun would always shine on the morrow.

We exchange our vows as prayers and praises and wore our wedding bands. The Officiating Official pronounced us as " MAN AND WIFE", the seal has been placed. Nothing and no one could break it except death. We kissed the sweetest kiss and I remembered I shed tears of gladness and contentment. Love is really the excellent way!

It was SEPTEMBER 13, 2004 when we sealed our love finally to the Lord and to all men, till death do us part.

I was so touched while reading your entry, misty eyed naman ako dito sa story mo. Talagang walang umattend na family ni Zel?

But know what? gaya nga ng sabi mo, di naman need na maraming attendees sa wedding, ang mahalaga yung alam mong nagmamahal sau di ba? I do admire both of you for sticking around each other, although his side of the family didn't favor you. Eka nga, "eh ano ba, di naman sila ang pakakasalan mo" di ba?

God always has His own way of arranging everything, if a window closed, a door would be opening soon..di ba?

At the end of the tunnel, there's always light ahead.

Great story Mommy Shelo..

Hello she, good thing pinaglaban mo pag-ibig mo. Sabi nga nila if a person worth fighting for then fight for that person and you did. Grandeur or simple wedding is a choice but whatever comes after is the most important part of the couples life together. Keep it up and be God as our anchor. Thanks for dropping by I do appreciate it.

thank sis for sharing us this very beautiful song along with your beautiful love story... I agree to the rest of the commenters here.. it is not the cost of the reception or the wedding dresses that counts....what counts is the real feelings that communicate each heart
